En attendant l’été
(Waiting for Summer)

The photo series En attendant l’été deals with wintertime living in Percé. Geneviève Thibault turned to the people who actually live there, leaving behind the famous rock with the hole in it and the fixed landscapes that testify to the slowdown and to the vestiges left in the wake of summertime activities. Her portraits tell the story of a very different day-to-day life, rooted in the interiors of homes, workplaces and community spaces. She brings together classical-ballet classes and Sunday mass, bingo night and knitting, artistic creation and dinner preparations, the building of lobster traps and the repair of damages caused by the latest storms. The photographs keep the beat of the village, which shelters 250 inhabitants in the winter and draws up to 5,000 people in the summer.
